The Tiger Who Came to Tea (Slipcase Edition)

Author(s): Judith Kerr

Children

Sophie is sitting down to tea with her mum when the door goes. A tiger is at the door and has come for Tea. The tiger gets invited in for tea but eats all the food and drinks all the drinks leaving nothing for Sophie’s dad for when he arrives home. The story could aid children in the concept of sharing as Sophie and her mum are happy to share their food even though the tiger is extremely greedy. The story mixes normal events with extremely unusual ones. The concept of someone coming to tea is extremely normal but a tiger coming to tea is very extraordinary. The concept of going shopping to replace the food eaten is also an ordinary concept but to buy more food in case the tiger returns again extraordinary.
